There’s a lot of confusion online about traveling with vapes and vaporizers. This is because different regions like the US and EU have different rules. Airlines also have their own policies about batteries, electronic devices, and e-cigarettes.

This guide will help you travel with your vape safely and legally on flights within the European Union.

  1. 1. Where to Pack Your Vaporizer
You cannot put your vaporizer in checked baggage in the cargo hold. Instead, pack it in your hand baggage or keep it on your person.
KLM: Prefers you carry it on your person.
Lufthansa: Allows it in your hand baggage.
    💡 Tip:
Turn your device off and make sure it can’t accidentally power on. This prevents suspicious beeps during boarding. If possible, put it in a secure pouch or case. Be ready to take it out for inspection if asked.

    2. Cleaning Your Vaporizer
If you’ve been using your vaporizer for cannabis, clean it well before you fly. Make sure there is no residue and no smell left inside.
Ask a friend with a fresh nose to check if it still smells — frequent users sometimes can’t tell. While smelling like cannabis is not illegal, it can make security checks less pleasant.

    3. Carrying Liquids
Follow EU liquid rules when traveling:
Bottles must be 100 ml or less.
Total liquids cannot exceed 1 liter.
Place them in a clear plastic bag for inspection.
    🚫 Important:
Cannabis products, including CBD and THC liquids, are still restricted in many EU countries. Always check both departure and arrival country laws before flying.

    4. Batteries and Power Banks
Batteries can be tricky when traveling. Here’s what airlines allow:
    Lufthansa:
Up to 100 Wh or 2 g LC per device
    Max. 15 electronic devices total
Only 3 larger devices (bigger than a smartphone) allowed in checked baggage
    KLM:
Up to 15 electronic devices with batteries (max. 100 Wh each)
Up to 20 spare batteries or power banks (max. 100 Wh each)
💡 Most vape batteries are between 6–10 Wh, so they’re well under the limit.
    Rules for battery transport:
Keep spare batteries in carry-on luggage
Prefer sealed packaging to avoid short circuits
Keep batteries away from liquids and sprays like perfume
Never travel with damaged batteries — they are banned due to fire risk

    5. How Many Devices Can You Bring?
You can bring up to 15 personal electronic devices.
    ⚠️ Warning:
If you carry too many new, unopened vapes, customs may think you are bringing them to sell. To avoid problems, have us ship your vapes directly to your destination if you need a large quantity.

    6. Charging and Using on the Plane
You cannot charge your vape on the plane.
You cannot use your vape on the plane.
Keep it turned off for the entire flight.

    7. Know the Local Law
Each EU country has its own rules about vaporizers and cannabis-related products.
    Do:
Check official government websites before flying.
    🚫 Don’t:
Rely on blog posts or store websites — they may be outdated or AI-generated.
Assume a country’s reputation means loose rules (for example, the Netherlands is strict about vaporizer sales despite its cannabis-friendly image).

    8. When in Doubt, Choose the Safe Option
If you’re ever unsure, follow the strictest rules. It’s better to be safe than risk confiscation or delays.
    💡 Pro Tip:
Want to avoid the hassle? We ship to every EU country we are legally allowed to. Order your favorite vaporizers directly to your destination so you can travel light and stress-free.
